Cookie Policy

Last updated: November 11, 2025

This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our website (the “Site”). It should be read together with our Privacy & Data policy.

1) What are cookies (and similar tech)?

  • Cookies are small text files stored on your device.

  • Similar tech includes local storage, pixels, and tags that help run the Site, remember choices, and measure usage.

2) How we use cookies

We group cookies into these categories:

  1. Strictly Necessary – required for the Site to function (session management, security/CSRF, load balancing, cookie-consent choice). These cannot be switched off.

  2. Preferences – remember settings like language or accessibility, and keep forms from resetting.

  3. Analytics – help us understand what’s working (pages visited, device/browser, general location). We use aggregated/de-identified reporting where feasible.

  4. Advertisingnot used. We do not run third-party advertising or retargeting cookies on the Site.

Embedded tools (e.g., donation checkout, maps, scheduling, video, background-check vendors) may set their own cookies. Their use is governed by each provider’s policy.

3) Examples of cookies you may see*

  • cookie_consent / cookie_preferences – remembers your choices on the banner.

  • __cf_bm or similar – bot management / performance (e.g., CDN).

  • _ga, _ga_*, _gid – analytics (e.g., Google Analytics).

  • __stripe_mid / __stripe_sid – payment/donation security (if Stripe is used).

  • ls_sess / wp_* – session or form state for logged-in areas or CMS.

*Examples only; names and lifespans can change as we update the Site or vendors.

4) How long cookies last

  • Session cookies: deleted when you close the browser.

  • Persistent cookies: typically up to 13 months (shorter if you clear them earlier). Vendor cookies may follow their own retention rules.

5) Your choices

  • Banner controls. Use the cookie banner to accept or decline non-essential categories (e.g., Analytics). You can reopen Cookie Settings from the banner link (or footer) anytime to change your choice.

  • Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Features may not work as expected if you block strictly necessary cookies.

  • Global Privacy Control (GPC) / Do Not Track. Where technically feasible, we treat GPC as an opt-out of non-essential cookies and of sale/sharing. Industry support for DNT varies; we honor it where we can.

  • Analytics opt-out. Toggle off Analytics in the banner/settings to stop analytics cookies.

6) Sale/Sharing of personal information

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Privacy & Data for details on how we handle personal information collected via cookies.

7) Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest version. Material changes will be posted on the Site.

8) Questions

For questions about cookies or your choices, please contact us via the Contact us / Reach Out page so we can route your request properly.
